WHERE TO STAY
Sanur seems to be a hit for some great budget family hotels! Some beachfront and some only a short stroll (or bicycle ride, the main mode of transport here) away from its pristine shoreline! The budget prices do not reflect the wonderful service at these hotels...and if travelling without the kiddies in tow (so no need for bloody waterslides or kids club activities) then there seems to be a bunch of great private villas too to help you find serenity!
We stayed at the Paradise Plaza Suite while we were in Sanur...
I would definitely recommend this resort to travelling families (as did my before mentioned friend that also gave us a hot tip to book this resort!) It's definitely NOT 5 star material, but it definitely is an awesome resort for the kids! Set out with a huge main pool with cabanas poolside, great poolside service and awesome cocktails...I was happy, while the kids were entertained in the massive kids club that has hourly activities including magic shows and movies. They weaved in and out to visit us and then over to the kids pool that has a 30 metre long waterslide that kept them (and us grownups for that matter) for hours!
With a playground set right next to the pool, the kids were sorted, we were sorted and everyone was feeling relaxed and good!
We stayed in their 2 bedroom suite and they are HUGE! Unlike a small hotel room, we felt like we were never stepping over each other! Tip: DO get a balcony room!
Once the kids hit the hay, we find us parents are kind of on lock down for the night but, the balcony rooms give you the best of both worlds! We grabbed a few drinks from the local mini mart (all around $1.50 each) and once the tiny people (FINALLY) closed their eyes, we sat on our balcony each night and got to listen to the live music playing at the poolside restaurant, enjoy our cheap drinks and got to have a rare uninterrupted chat with each other!
The rooms are pretty sound proof, so even though the music was pumpimg out on our makeshift balcony bar...inside when we would check on the kids it was only a faint whisper.
The service here is great and we also got a load of washing done here too for $14, double of what you would pay on the streets...but we were too lazy to take it 5 steps away. They also have a free shuttle to and from the beach.
The breakfast buffet had all the usuals and satisfied our hungry (hungover from the balcony) tummys! Definitely book here if you'd like to come to Bali on a budget, get a huge room with great facilities in a good location!

OTHER ACCOMMODATION IN SANUR:
All these come highly recommended by friends and family and definitely look like they are worth looking up! I think our choice if we returned to Sanur, would be the beach front family friendly Prama Sanur Beach Hotel Bali!
